- This is a vintage 8-inch "Early Americana" wooden peg doll replica made in Japan for the Shackman Company (catalog number 4659), dating from the early 1960s onwards.
- The doll features a hand-painted wooden body with wire-jointed arms and legs, dressed in a calico pattern dress with lace-trimmed petticoats and pantaloon undergarments, as noted on the original hanging tag from the B. Shackman & Co. New York collection.
- These souvenir and museum-replica penny wooden dolls were popular mid-century novelty and collectible items sold in gift shops across the United States.
This estate find is in good condition. However, it may have some scuffing, scratches, markings, dust, dirt, and other imperfections. It could use some more cleaning. See the photos for more details.
