Rosemeade Pottery in Wahpeton ND made numerous hand-painted pottery shapes from 1940 to 1961.  Their many animal-shaped salt and peppers and figurines were very popular items in the area's souvenir shops.  Often depicting animals native to the area, they were very realistically shaped, detailed, and colored.  

These miniature seal figurines with a black glossy glaze are a great example of Rosemeade's attention to detail.  While there were originally 3 pieces in this set - father, mother, and baby - this listing is for only 2 - father and baby.  The father is about 1-3/4 inches tall, 1 inch wide, and 2-1/8 inches front-to-back.  The tiny baby is about 3/4 inch tall, 1 inch wide, and 1-5/8 inches front-to-back.  

The father still has the original Rosemeade foil label on their back.

Over 60 years old, these are in very good vintage condition - no chips, hairlines, or crazing - and ready add to a collection (with or without the mother) or display all on their own.
