This auction is for a used Vintage Altered Cavalry Leather Brass Heart Breastplate Martingale Horse Piece

No marking to indicate the maker 

Used collar or breast plate - I have not cleaned it up - previous owner replaced the oringinal heart and the brass studs are smaller - but the rest of it is of the old style buckless and snaps - If it was all original Civil War-era brass heart martingale plate mounted on leather was used on cavalry and dragoon horse harness equipment - Worn on the chest as part of the martingale or breast strap assembly to help keep the saddle securely positioned - I wish I know more about it it was in a old barn that they clean out - leather is darken from age and weather - all the brass buttons are still on it - take a good look at the condition.
