The Model
A 1:41 scale diecast model of the Brabham Parmalat BT48, produced by Polistil as part of their "Model Club 33" range (reference CE 120). Finished in metallic maroon-red with car number 5, Parmalat and Alfa Romeo branding, and detailed engine trim to the rear bodywork. Complete with the original red window box.
Condition
Pre-owned, in good overall condition. The paintwork is free from chips, and the decals are intact and well-adhered throughout. The wheels and detail parts, including the chrome-effect engine intakes, are all present and undamaged. The box is in good condition, with some general wear and light scuffing to the corners and edges; the plastic display window remains clear and intact, and the artwork on the flip-top lid is bright and legible. The Real Car
The Brabham BT48 was the team's 1979 Formula One challenger, built around a naturally-aspirated Alfa Romeo flat-12 engine under designer Gordon Murray. The car was notable for pioneering "surface cooling" radiator panels intended to reduce drag, though the system proved problematic in practice and was later abandoned in favour of a more conventional layout partway through the season.
