In 1915, the Emir of Bukhara established a teardrop-shaped medal decorated with the inscription "In memory of the war to loyal servants. Noble Bukhara. 1915-1916," which was awarded to Bukhara residents mobilized for military service in Tsarist Russia during World War I and to civilians for their loyalty and service to the emirate, diplomats, officers, and courtiers.
This award dates back to the last period of the Bukhara Emirate's existence. After the Red Army conquered Bukhara in September 1920, Emir Alim Khan fled to Afghanistan, and only a limited number of awards from this period remain.
