This traditional wedding vase was made by Mary Ann Hampton (1930- 2019). The form is found throughout Puebloan culture; the double spouts are intended to symbolically nourish & serve the needs of both members of the union of marriage. This was built by hand of local Acoma clay. The outer surfaces of the vessel were coated with a white mineral based paint & polished before they were decorated with stylized paired birds using both beeweed based paint (black) & a red mineral based paint. This measures approx 6.75" H x 4.25" W x 4.25" D. It is signed Mary Ann Hampton, Acoma, N.M. on the base. This would be a stand out in any collection!
Very Good Condition! This has some flaws as made & a little spalling. There is a tiny stress crack seen on the inside of one spout from the firing, that is stable. This reminds me of how relationships aren't perfect but they can still be beautiful! Priced accordingly.
