Ironwood is an notoriously hard variety of wood that grows in the Sonoran desert of the southwest; it is extremely difficult to carve, hence the name! When polished, it displays beautiful reddish brown patterns that make all that effort worthwhile. Ironwood animal figurines, like this cute quail, are made in Sonora, Mexico for sale to tourists. This little bird has a high polish that shows off the gorgeous woodgrain. In contrast, the rock that he sits upon has a rough, hewn finish. The piece measures approx 6.5” H x 3.75” L x 2- 5/8” D. Unsigned. This would make a nice addition to any collection of southwestern art or a cute accent to your decor!
Very Good Condition! There is some light distressing that is truly not noticeable.
