Vintage Orvis Rocky Mountain Series fly rod from the 1990s.

The Rocky Mountain Series was offered as a moderately priced alternative to Orvis’s premium fly rods of the period. It used proven Orvis graphite tapers while simplifying certain cosmetic features, including the cork grade, reel-seat components, wrapping details, and blank finish.

This 8-foot, 4-weight, 4-piece model is understood to use the same basic blank design as the contemporary Orvis Superfine Tight Loop. It has a smooth, versatile action suitable for trout fishing and packs down conveniently for travel.
