Vintage SAGE 680 GFL fly rod from the early Winslow Manufacturing era.
This is an original factory-finished SAGE rod, complete with its matching aluminum tube and SAGE rod sock.

This early low-modulus graphite rod has a smooth, progressive action and bends deeply under load. Based on my own casting experience, modern 6-weight lines feel somewhat heavy on this rod. I find that it casts very comfortably with many current 5-weight lines. Line preference is subjective, but anglers familiar with early-generation graphite rods will understand this difference from modern rod and line standards.
The aluminum rod tube has some light dirt, marks, and normal storage wear.
The light brown SAGE rod sock is clean and remains in good condition.
The cork grip shows moderate signs of use.
The wood reel-seat insert has light surface wear and areas where the original varnish has worn away, causing several parallel changes in color. These lines are not cuts, dents, or deep scratches, and the surface remains smooth to the touch.
The reel-seat hardware and butt cap have a few tiny marks, mainly around the edges.
The blank has several light surface scuffs as shown in the photos. There are no deep scratches, cracks, or other structural damage. The guides and wraps remain in good condition.
