Rosemeade Pottery in Wahpeton ND made numerous hand-painted pottery shapes from 1940 to 1961.  Their many animal-shaped salt and peppers were very popular items in the area's souvenir shops.  Often depicting animals native to the area, they were very realistically shaped, detailed, and colored.  

This baby deer/fawn salt and pepper set in a rusty tan glossy glaze with hand-painted white spots and black eyes and nose are a great example of Rosemeade's hand-painted attention to detail.  They are the same size - about 1-1/4 inches tall to the tip of their ears, 1-1/4 inches wide, and 2-1/2 inches ear-to-tail.  Both shakers have 2 holes.

Over 60 years old, these are in very good vintage condition - no chips, hairlines, or crazing - and ready add to a collection or display all on their own.
