Vintage Orvis Superfine “Tippet” graphite fly rod.

This is the classic two-piece version, measuring 7 feet 6 inches and rated for a 3-weight line. With a marked weight of only 1 1/2 oz., it is an exceptionally light and delicate rod designed for small-stream fishing and fine presentations.

The rod has a cork grip and cork reel seat with black sliding rings. The original black metal tube has brass-colored threaded fittings.

Condition:

The rod shows light use. The cork grip and cork reel seat have minor handling wear and light soiling. The butt-end specification plate shows some finish loss and light surface scratches.

The blank is generally clean, with only a few very light surface marks that are difficult to show in photographs. There is slight cloudiness in the finish over the ferrule-area wraps. The sections fit properly.

The rod sock is clean and free from noticeable staining, but its hanging ribbon loop is missing. The metal tube has scattered light marks, and part of the Orvis 25-year guarantee sticker is chipped and missing.
