This historically significant issue reprints the complete correspondence between
Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr — all nine letters exchanged in June 1804 that led to the duel of July 11.
Includes letters signed by Aaron Burr, Alexander Hamilton, W.P. Van Ness (for Burr), and Nathaniel Pendleton (for Hamilton).
Opens with "The shocking catastrophe which has recently occurred terminating the life of Alexander Hamilton." Printed just over two weeks after the fatal duel.
The page measures approximately 12" x 20" (standard early American folio). Condition consistent with 220-year-old newsprint: age-related toning, edge wear, original mailing fold lines, minor chipping at corners, light foxing. The newspaper is complete with all 4 pages, but has separated entirely along the central vertical fold, resulting in two loose, single-sheet folios (Pages 1/2 and Pages 3/4). Text remains fully intact and readable, but the spine fold is split.
