Here I have something fantastic and interesting,  fossilised Tufa rock with an amazing

fossil leaf from a new location discovered in Indonesia. Tufa is formed in a unique 

way when calcium carbonate rich spring water rises to the surface, some times heated 

by volcanic activity , the mineral rich water can soak into organic matter like plants 

and leaves as water evaporates it becomes more concentrated forming crystal like 

structure then in time become hard and form Tufa rock formations. 

Tufa is said to be of great scientific value because it can tell scientist so much about 

past environmental conditions by analysing the compounds and minerals in it, Tufa with organic fossils is even better, giving first hand information on plant species from the time it was formed. 

I believe this is a newly discovered source of Tufa as I have been un able to find any others from Indonesia, 

Tufa rocks with good examples of organic fossils are very rare and a fantastic addition to any collection. 

Being a newly discovered location the date of these rocks has not yet been established but they are believed 

to date to the Neogene period 23 to 2.4 million years old.

ABOUT THIS TUFA..... This AMAZING LARGE piece of Tufa contains a beautiful detailed leaf  (not yet been identified but with a little research it is possible.) amazing discovery and great value!  Tufa measures 120mm x 100mm, weight is 242 grams

This is a very limited stock, you will not find this in any fossil shops and my supple is very limited so a great chance to get your hands on something very unusual.
