    The markings on the side of the hood indicate which focal lengths and maximum apertures it was engineered for to prevent vignetting while maximizing flare protection:

    • 105mm f/2.5: Specifically the Nikkor-P Auto or the later Ai/Ai-s versions (though some newer 105mm lenses have built-in telescopic hoods, this remains a popular external option).

    • 135mm f/3.5: Fits the standard 135mm prime lenses of the era.

    • 105mm f/4: Typically refers to the Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/4.
