An original WWII Imperial Japanese Army brown leather field sword belt used for carrying a military sword.
This practical field-style belt was used by both Japanese Army officers and NCOs. A separate sword suspension strap could be attached to the rectangular metal fitting at the rear. The leather guard below the fitting helped protect the uniform and support the suspended sword fittings.
The belt is made from thick brown leather with a metal buckle, keeper, and rear suspension fitting. The buckle and metal components show substantial plating loss, darkening, and surface rust, but no broken hardware is visible.
The leather has become somewhat stiff with age and shows surface cracking, scuffs, stains, discoloration, and general wear. One adjustment hole has enlarged through use, and there is wear around several other holes. The stitching shows age-related wear but remains substantially intact.
When fastened at the center adjustment hole, the belt measures approximately 79 cm / 31.1 inches around the waist. It can be adjusted approximately 10 cm / 3.9 inches smaller or larger.
Although the belt can still be fastened, the leather is old and somewhat stiff. It is sold as a historical collectible rather than for actual wear.
