An original Japanese military leather sword suspension strap used for carrying a gunto from a waist belt.

The strap is made from thick brown leather and fitted with nickel-plated steel hardware. One end has a metal suspension hook, while the opposite end forms a folded loop that could be attached to a belt or other suspension fitting.

This type of separate sword hanger is often missing from surviving Japanese military sword equipment and is difficult to find by itself.

The leather remains in good condition for its age, retaining a strong brown color and a relatively clean surface. The unfinished reverse side shows normal nap and age-related roughness. There are minor surface marks and light wear, but no major cracks or breaks are visible.

The metal hook and fittings show light plating loss, darkening, and small areas of surface rust where the plating has worn away. The riveted fittings remain secure.
