Offered here is a legendary Graflex Series B in 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 inch format with a Ross of London Xpress f4.5 to f32 Lens
Its in generally good condition with, the shutter is working but deserves a CLA if you're planning on putting it to serious work. A quick condition summary:
- The shutter runs ok but sounds a little dry, the cloth is a bit dry with some horizontal cracking which is typical for these cameras.
Well actually, most typically the shutter cloth is completely shot and the mechanism is wrecked from having been stored in an attic on the highest tension setting for a few decades, so this one is pretty decent as these things go :D
- I have not tested it with film, so please note any minor deviances in shutter speed or pinholing in the cloth would be much more noticeable on film than the paper negs I have been shooting.
- The leather covering to the lens hood is peeling off and needs re-adhering.
- It comes with a sturdy velvet lined leather carrying case. The stitching on this needs repairing and there are a couple of buckles that need reattaching if you wanted to attach a carrying strap
- The Ross Xpress lens is remarkably clean and clear for its age, there is some signs of dust if you shine a light through it, but nothing that would impact images.
All that being said, it is a beautiful, working piece of camera history that is still capable of taking gorgeous images in the right hands.
