This auction is for a stunning, French, antique portrait compact.  The portrait is hand painted, but I can see no artist signature.  The compact has raised gold ormolu with a purple stone in the center of each small circle and opaque enameled small surrounded "dots".  Some of the enamel has flaked in these tiny dots under magnification, but nothing significant (as you can see from the picture).  The portrait has a raised metal circle with textured "rope" ormolu and a ring the circular indentions that are enameled in a pale pink.  Some of this enamel is pitted or worn, but again, can only see under magnification.  The mirror is beveled and in great shape with one teensy black spot from silver loss.  There is an old powder puff, but don't know if it is the original powder puff, and remaining powder.  I see no dents to the intricate raised metal designs.  The powder compact is 2 1/2" in diameter and about 7/8" from top to bottom.  Gorgeous!  PLEASE NOTE:  Although all my jewelry listings will be marked that returns are not accepted (due to eBay's change of policy from 14 day returns to 30 days).
