Modeled on Simplicity 8161 is this costume overdress/gown in 100% cotton printed in green and cream calico. Height quality quilt shop fabric new off the bolt! Rendezvous, Outlander, colonial, Ren Faire, Halloween, Beetlejuice, Fairytale…you name it! Wear as is or let your imagination go wild on embellishments.

Fully lined bodice, modern undergarments are fine. The 5 piece bodice allows subtle, flattering shaping , including a square neckline, elbow darts and a sleeve ruffle for nice historical details. 5.5’ of twisted khaki cotton cord laces through 10 buttonholes over a stomacher. 2 concealed buttons help keep the stomacher in place-a real plus for those of us who don’t have a ladies maid to dress us! All exposed edges are fully finished for comfort and durability.

Hand wash (bathtubs are great for this!) lay flat or hang to dry. Dry cleaning is fine, too. Warm iron and starch if you’d like it crisp.

Because it closes with front lacing, the fit is forgiving and will accommodate a variety of cup sizes. All new materials. I’ve been sewing for theater for 19 years and this is a popular costume with actors for comfort and ease of wear.
