A classic R.L. Winston IM6 fly rod in the highly practical 9-foot, 6-weight, 3-piece configuration.
This rod dates from the period when Winston had transitioned to producing its own graphite blanks. It features the traditional deep-green Winston blank, cigar-style cork grip, zebrawood reel-seat spacer, and downlocking metal hardware.
The 3-piece construction offers better portability than the more commonly encountered 2-piece IM6 rods while retaining the smooth, progressive casting character for which the Winston IM6 series is well known.
The rod is in good used condition.
The original green rod tube is clean overall. The Winston company label had begun to lift and was previously secured with adhesive, leaving visible adhesive residue around the label area.
The original white Winston rod sock is clean and in good condition.
The cork grip shows normal signs of use. The zebrawood reel-seat spacer has several small dents and surface marks. The metal reel-seat hardware shows age-related tarnish, and the butt cap has light surface wear and discoloration.
The blank remains in good overall condition, with only light surface scuffs as shown in the photos. No deep scratches, cracks, repairs, or other structural damage were found. The guides, wraps, and ferrules appear to be in good condition.
