The Pulaski House ~ Savannah, Georgia

The Pulaski House was one of Savannah’s most famous and historic 19th-century hotels. Located on the northwest corner of Bull Street and Bryan Street facing historic Johnson Square, the hotel opened its doors in 1836 and was named in honor of Revolutionary War hero Count Casimir Pulaski, who gave his life during the Siege of Savannah in 1779.

Throughout the antebellum era, Civil War period, and late 19th century, the Pulaski House served as a premier gathering place and residence for prominent travelers, political figures, and military leaders visiting Savannah. Notably, General Robert E. Lee stayed at the Pulaski House during his final visit to Savannah in April 1870, just months before his passing.

The hotel stood as a iconic centerpiece of downtown Savannah for over a century before being demolished in the mid-20th century. I know the locals and tourist are happy about that & the Market
