I'm selling this really beautiful and highly collectible antique miniature magnifying glass / optical loupe from the late 19th century. Hand-crafted in Germany, this elegant piece features an incredibly detailed handle formed as a traditional stork (or heron) with its long beak gracefully sweeping down its chest. 

Stork motifs on miniature tools from this era were deeply tied to social and domestic arts, making this an authentic, luxury, lady's sewing accessory intended for a waist chatelaine, to inspect fine embroidery, lace, and needlework. 

The stem is definitely stamped, but deciphering the marks is not so easy, even using another more powerful loupe.  

Using online Ai help, i think, it has three official continental silver hallmarks.

835– Certifying solid German 835/1000 fineness silver. 

Crescent Moon & Imperial Crown (Halbmond und Reichskrone) – The official national German silver assay guarantee post-1888.  And a maker's cartouche – partially rubbed workshop maker initials.

But as you can see from the pictures, the marks are not clear, so i'm not entirely sure of the Ai interpretation.

It is in excellent functional antique condition.  

It has a beautiful, rich high-shine patina from decades of loving polishing, which has softened the cast high-relief contours of the stork feathering, giving it a smooth, authentic heirloom feel. 

Featuring a fully intact, solid silver hanging loop at the tip of the stork's head, ready to clip to a pocket chain, chatelaine belt hook, orbe worn as a statement pendant necklace. 

The original square cushion-cut glass cabochon magnifier lens offers highly effective, crisp magnification, despite minor scratches and a tiny chip to one corner.

While silver chatelaine aids like button hooks, pencil holders, and standard lenses are relatively common, stork-themed magnifying loupes with a solid-cast handle are incredibly scarce.  

Most stork-themed German silver from this era consists of scissors, embroidery clamps, thimble cases, or decorative spoons. 

Finding a fully operational pocket loupe featuring this specific motif is highly uncommon.
