This is an interesting piece brought to us from the estate of a local collector. This is a two piece crystal trophy that resembles a golf ball sitting atop a tee. The tee stands approximately 8 inches tall with the entire trophy standing approximately 10 inches tall when the golf ball is placed atop the tee.
The front of the trophy is engraved First Place Inaugural Ryder Cup Champions Invitational with the Oakland Hills name appearing between the trophy title. We are not sure if this was an actual trophy given to a tournament winner or if it was a souvenir type piece gifted to various dignitaries. Either way it is a stunning display item.
The trophy weigh just over 4 pounds and is in good overall condition except for two small chips on the base of the trophy. When looking at the front of the trophy the bottom left hand front corner and the bottom left hand back corner both have a small chip that can be seen upon close inspection. Also, a couple of the top corners on the tee feel a little rough and may have a very small flea bite. None of these defects can be seen from afar and in our opinion they do not affect the overall appearance of the trophy.
We think this is will make a perfect addition to the more advanced collection of golf memorabilia.
Due to the value of this piece it will be shipped with an adult signature required at the time of delivery. Do not make a bid if you are not going to be able to provide a signature at the time of delivery.
