This authentic early 20th-century Stanley Rule & Level Co. No. 3 Adjustable Spirit Level measures approximately 28 inches in length.
Manufactured in New Britain, Connecticut, this quality Stanley level features a hardwood body, original brass hardware, and three original adjustable glass spirit vials. The maker's plate displays patent dates through May 8, 1906, indicating the level was manufactured after that patent was issued.
Unlike later economy models, this level utilizes Stanley's adjustable vial system. The two circular plumb-view rings are engraved "STANLEY ADJUSTABLE," and the center brass plate is marked "TO ADJUST REMOVE PLATES," allowing the vials to be recalibrated if needed.
Whether you're a Stanley collector, antique tool enthusiast, or traditional woodworker, this is an attractive early example of Stanley craftsmanship.

Patent Dates
Early Stanley adjustable levels remain highly regarded for their precision construction, serviceable design, and quality materials. This example retains its original adjustable vial assemblies, brass hardware, and all three working spirit vials.
The wood body bears a stamped "80" mark near one end. This marking is shown in the photographs and is believed to be a factory, production, or inventory mark. It is presented for collector evaluation and is not represented as a confirmed model or catalog designation.
