All Original: Paint, Wall Brackets, Lift Up Lid, Hinges, and Hasp (lid fastener)
The Lid Opens Freely. By design - to lock the lid you need to push it a bit to use the hasp so it holds firmly afterwards
Not perfect as it was a household item meant for daily use - paint loss, dents, some corrosion (considerably less than other similar items), however still great condition for an antique metal item

Original Use: this box protected tallow candles from rodents that loved the taste of the fat used to make them. While rats are no longer a threat to interior light, the box can serve as a fantastic decoration in a truly unique interior
