This model is based on a 1967-style Stratocaster, featuring an HSS configuration with a Shawbucker Zebra pickup in the bridge position. The body is made of well-balanced 2-Piece Select Alder. The finish is Faded Aged Blue Ice Metallic, which has a light and subdued feel.
The natural feel of the Journeyman Relic finish is combined with Closet Classic hardware. The neck is made of Quartersawn Maple with a '65 Style "C" neck shape.
The fingerboard is made of bound Round-Laminated Rosewood, giving it a late 1960s feel. With a 9.5-inch radius and Jumbo / 6100 frets, it offers smooth playability, from chord work to lead playing.
This guitar features Custom Shop Hand-Wound Fat ’64 Strat® pickups in the neck and middle positions, and a Fender Shawbucker Zebra in the bridge position. The neck and middle pickups deliver a thick, rich Stratocaster-style single-coil sound, while the bridge pickup provides a thicker, more driven tone.
The 5-way switch allows for a wide range of sound shaping, from clean cutting to rock-oriented lead tones. The design is practical, making it easy to utilize the characteristics of both single-coil and humbucker pickups, and carefully considering the volume and tone balance for each pickup position.
