Bold indigo colouring, sweeping embossed scrollwork and a polished silver-tone square case give this Avon cuff watch strong visual presence. Confirmed through a period Avon catalogue as the Embossed Cuff Watch, it features a broad faux-leather cuff designed to resemble tooled leather, with a pale lining, stitched edges and rounded silver-tone terminal caps. The flexible, open-ended slip-on cuff has no conventional clasp and was originally described by Avon as one size fits most.
The silver-white dial has raised silver-tone numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9, applied baton hour markers, matching hour and minute hands and a slender central second hand. The case measures 2.5 × 3 cm (0.98 × 1.18 in). It contains a Japanese quartz movement, while the stainless-steel case back is marked “Japan Movement”, “SR626SW” and reference F3041621/U; the cuff assembly is marked China.
A new battery has been fitted, and the watch works well. It is in good condition, with light wear and minor scratching to the case back consistent with age and previous battery changes. The rich indigo pattern reflects the bohemian, Western-inspired and oversized statement-watch influences popular during the mid-2000s.
Its crisp square dial and swirling indigo cuff give this Avon timepiece a fine balance of structure and decorative drama. Like, share or tag the Avon collector whose watch box could use a dash of indigo theatre.
