This is a fully polished piece of Burmite (Burmese) amber that contains an ancient water bubble or enhydro with a trapped, moving air bubble inside from the Cretaceous Period. This enhydro is shaped such that the air bubble does not appear to move much. There is also a second enhydro which I refer to as 'frozen' as the air bubble it contains does not appear to move at all. With the enhydros is a small wasp. 

This particular enhydro is fascinating to note that the water and air trapped inside it were present when dinosaurs including T-Rex and Triceratops still walked the Earth!  

Geological studies have dated the water in this enhydro to be around 100 million years old.


The piece itself weighs 1.3 grams with approximate dimensions of 2.3 cm length by 1.4 cm width and 0.6 cm height. NOTE: 2.54 cm is 1 inch.

Burmese (Burmite) amber has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky resin during the time of the dinosaurs.

Please note that the saltwater test to identify real from fake amber is not reliable. The saltwater test claims that real amber will float in saltwater while fake amber will sink.

                  

However, many amber sources or even specimens will not float in saltwater as their botanical (plant) composition as well as fossil inclusions are such that they are more dense than saltwater and so sink. I do not sell fake amber. My feedback should help demonstrate this.
