For Sale: Stunning 1914 dated houndstooth belt-back sports blazer. (There is even a Wikipedia page about the original owner)
I’m reluctantly selling this fantastic early sports coat in a black & white houndstooth like fabric.
Two things you should know about that 1914 houndstooth jacket: it was custom made by the finest Fifth Avenue merchant tailoring house at the time, and it was originally made for a Seymour H.Knox I , Co-founder of F.W Woolworths (His picture is included in picture scroll & there is a Wikipedia page on him, I’ve also included a picture of me wearing it earlier this year)
It has some wonderful details to it, like small gussets under the arms for extra ease of movements, lovely buttons that continue the two-tone style of the jacket, it is truly a fantastic & rare piece.
Condition: There is repairs to a couple of holes that were on the sleeves & there is some faint staining to the lapel (see pictures) but honestly these issues are lost in the weave (when I wore it in Poland earlier this year I got tons of compliments on the jacket).
