R.L. Winston IM6 fly rod made in Twin Bridges, Montana.
This is an early IM6-era rod, believed to date from the period shortly after Winston transitioned from G. Loomis-supplied blanks to its own in-house blank production.
The 8'6" 3wt configuration is a desirable light-line model suitable for delicate dry-fly fishing while retaining the smooth, progressive action associated with classic Winston rods.
Specifications:

The rod appears to have seen very little use.
The cork grip is generally clean. A few natural cork pits have been filled.
The zebrawood reel-seat spacer is very clean with no noticeable scratches.
The nickel-silver reel-seat hardware shows some light surface oxidation and dark spotting.
The butt cap also has some dark surface oxidation, but no significant scratches or dents.
The blank is exceptionally clean. There is only one very small surface mark near the grip, as shown in the final photograph.
The guides, wraps, ferrules, and tip-top are all in good condition.
The original green aluminum tube has surface scuffs and wear.
The original cloth rod sock has some light discoloration and dark marks from storage.
The handwritten specifications on the tube cap match the rod.
