The Designer: William Edgar Fager (1897–1973) was a Chicago-based artist and interior designer celebrated for his custom Art Deco and Art Moderne decorative creations. He famously created custom furniture and decor for celebrity clients.

Fager created a popular series of three-dimensional botanical shadow boxes featuring meticulously arranged dried flowers, silks, netting, and velvet backing. His work often drew inspiration from traditional, intricate textile arts.
