Rosemeade Pottery in Wahpeton ND made numerous hand-painted pottery shapes from 1940 to 1961.  Their many animal- and vegetable-shaped salt and peppers and figurines were very popular items in the area's souvenir shops.  Often depicting animals and vegetables native to the area, they were very realistically shaped, detailed, and colored.

This flamingo on a nest salt and pepper set in a pink glossy glaze with darker highlights is a great example of Rosemeade's attention to detail.  The taller flamingo pepper shaker is about 4 inches tall, 1-3/4 inches wide, and 2-1/8 inches beak-to-tail and has an original foil label and 2 holes.  The salt shaker has 3 holes and is about 3 inches tall, 1-3/4 inches wide, and 2 inches breast-to-tail.

Examples of this set can be seen on page 64 of the 2000 Collectors Encyclopedia of Rosemeade Pottery - Identification & Values - by Darlene Hurst Dommel.

Over 60 years old, these are in very good vintage condition - no chips, hairlines, or crazing - and ready add to a collection or display all on their own.
