This is a full spectrum camera, because of this it is highly sensitive to red and infrared light. It works with Sony E mount lenses (and will autofocus perfectly) , it can (obviously) also be used with manual focus lenses (with the right adapter) Making it perfect for infrared or astrophotography (720nm IR filter and an astrophotography compatible UV/IR filter) It will need to be used with the appropriate filters Its perfect for use in astrophotography and is massively more sensitive to hydrogen alpha (delivering those rich red nebula images) . With a camera or telescope it would normally be used with an astrophotography appropriate Infrared/UV filter cut-off, narrowband or broadband nebula filters. For infrared it can be used with any infrared photographic filters (580,720,760,850,940 nm etc), comes with a 720nm filter. . All images are shown taken with this 24MP sensor (mostly on Sony A5100, Sony Nex7 and A6000, the final is an A5000) , The first eight images were taken with a 680nm or 720nm IR filter. The next two with an Aerochrome filter (straight out of the camera with no processing) The one before last was taken image was taken with a a Cokin orange filter The final image was taken with this actual camera, with a Zomei 720nm filter and a Sony 18-55mm (last weekend in Baden-Baden) and channel swapped as described All images were taken with a standard Sony 18-55mm E (just JPEGS but RAWS will give you more control if you need it) everything was channel swapped red/blue in GIMP (free software), - except the two Aerochrom filter images If you google "Channel swapping infrared in GIMP" there is a very good tutorial on how to do this Its capable of delivering stunning images in false colour or black and white with the appropriate filter You can even use it as a conversional visible light camera with an infrared/UV cutoff filter fitted to the lens. Please note all our cameras are European models and European specifications. Video will be PAL by default rather than NTSC and frame rates will probably be different, some models do not allow switching between PAL and NTSC , please check that the detailed specification of the camera meets your needs .
