Antique Oak Gerstner machinist chest.

 

Up for your consideration is a very fine condition  oak machinist chest from the 1930s. This chest has been professionally restored with lots of attention to detail. New felt was precision cut and the proper Hide glue was used. The leather handle was redone the way it was back in the 1930s. All the hardware was removed and polished. After disassembly , the case , lid and drawers were stripped to bare wood and sanded. Golden oak stain was applied followed by three hand rubbed polyurethane coats with sanding between each coat. I polished with carnauba wax before putting hardware back on. I did NOT sand all the blemishes or nicks out of the wood. There are some small very minor ones . This along with the hand rubbed finished gives it more of an original look to it. Also , the nickel hardware is original and not new. There will be some very minor blemishes but nothing major. I did install a new era correct metal decal from Gerstner as well.  I put rubber feet on it for protection. The chest is stunningly beautiful .  The key was made by Gerstner from an NOS Eagle key blank. According to my research this chest was built anywhere between 1926 and 1940.  Overall this chest is ready to house your collection , whatever it may be in style.
