  • The Anthracite Monument in Anthracite Park, 7th Avenue, Carbondale, Pennsylvania was erected in 1901 to commemorate the site of America's first deep underground anthracite coal mine (1831). After several relocations during the 20th century, the monument was returned to its original location in 2003, where it remains today.
