This is a brand new Hornby R30451 model of BR Class 91 91 130 "Lord Mayor of Newcastle" in LNER Red livery.
The model is 1:76 scale, OO Gauge, highly detailed, DCC Ready with a 21 pin socket, able to negotiate Radius 2 curves, has a powerful 5 pole skew wound motor and is fitted with NEM couplings.
31 class 91's were built by BR between 1988 and 1991 as part of the East Coast electrification project, and have spent their working lives on that line, whilst some have been scrapped, and some put into departmental use, a number of the loco's still operate on the ECML to the present day. This model represents what was 91 030, which was renumbered following refurbishment to 91 130 in this attractive LNER Red livery, ideal for Era 9. The Class 91's operated with semi fixed rakes of BR Mk4 sets and were known as IC225's, this was in anticipation of their 225km/h service speed. We have all varieties of LNER Mk4 liveried coaches available which are the perfect partner to this loco.
This loco is now on display at the museum of Scottish Railways.
The model was obtained direct from Hornby and is being sold to raise funds towards the restoration of BR Class 50 50030 repulse, based at Peak Rail.
