Numerous companies during the last quarter of the 19th into the early 20th century marketed versions of the opalescent swirl design. Northwood introduce their design during the 1890s as this style gained traction in the marketplace. Produced in a number of color combinations, this pattern sold in numerous table wares including sugar shakers otherwise known as muffineers. These items were produced in the usual colors of the era including cranberry, blue, white and occasionally canary yellow. 

This nice example with what I believe to be the original metal top stands 5 1/4” tall including the lid and measures 3 1/4” diameter across the broadest region of the body. The glass portion has no staining on the inside nor cracks in the glass. I will mention that originally these items were mold blown from the top thus most were not factory ground since the lid will cover the rough rim. Several of the pictures show the unground rim. Actually the lid is in quite good condition for its age and usage, however, I did notice a small amount of spotting on both the inside and outer surfaces. I see no hairline cracks in the lid threading that attaches to the base. These Victorian shakers are scarce in the marketplace today and collectors are seeking out attractive examples.  Please view all pictures as they are considered part of the description.
