MIRIAM HASKELL NECKLACE:
GOLD GILT BRASS HAMMERED LEAVES TEAL GLASS & SEED BEADS
The Miriam Haskell
necklace is a stunning piece of 1970's vintage jewelry designed and hand
crafted in the United States, in the workshop of Miriam Haskell.
The construction features multiple strands of teal colored seed beads anchored to a gold gilt filigree bead cap. Both ends of the necklace at the bead caps are attached to stations of glass rondelle teal colored beads. The bead stations are anchored to molded hammered gold gilt brass leaves each of which is in turn attached to a teal rondelle glass bead crowned with a gold gilt brass cap.
It fastens with a
patented MIRIAM HASKELL slide Latch. The latch is signed MIRIAM
HASKELL on one side with a patented number embossed on the other side.
The necklace has an
amulet pendant of two molded hammered gilt brass leaves secured to a gold
gilt filigree base. The molded brass leaves are nestled in a twisted knot
of the seed bead strands.
The underside of the
pendant is signed with a cartouche Hallmarked MIRIAM HASKELL.
The necklace maybe worn with the strands twisted as torsade choker
or untwisted as a bib.
Most of the findings used in the construction of Haskell's jewelry were sourced from Europe and/or Japan. Haskell Jewelry were hand made in their workshop in the USA, by some of the best craftsmen in the USA, There was strict quality control and attention was paid to details of each piece. This contributes to the smooth finish, exquisite beauty and well preserved condition of the pieces including this wonderful necklace.

CONDITION:
This is pre-owned 1970's vintage jewelry. The necklace is necklace was
purchase from the original owner at a private estate sale in Manhattan, New
York in 1980’s.
The gold gilt findings of the piece are all original and very well
preserved. There is some tarnish, which gives the pieces a rich Russian gold
hue. It is not obtrusive or distracting. The threading of the
necklace has no fraying or stretching. There does not seem to be any
missing strands of beads.
The slide latch fasten securely.
Structurally, the piece is well preserved with minor flaws of tarnish on the gold gilt brass findings due
to aging.
This is a beautiful and rare necklace, which will not
disappoint. I have seen very few of this style in different colors being
offered.
PLEASE REMEMBER, THAT SOME VINTAGE PIECES ARE FRAGILE DUE TO AGE and should be handled gently and with care. The beads are glass so care should be taken not to drop the pieces. Additionally, care should be take with the threaded strands of seed beads to avoid them being broken.
