Lovely 18th Century & Later Carved Oak Butler's Drinks Tray Table

Description

A charming and unusual 18th Century & later carved oak Butler's drinks tray table, most likely constructed during the 19th century using a collection of beautifully carved 18th century oak fragments. This is a wonderfully decorative and well-made piece that combines earlier craftsmanship with later cabinet-making.

The table has been traditionally constructed using pegged mortise and tenon joints, resulting in a strong, solid frame. It is designed in the classic Butler's table style, featuring a removable serving tray to the top and a fixed lower shelf, making it both practical and highly decorative.

The removable tray sits securely within the frame and can be lifted out for serving drinks, afternoon tea, or displaying decorative items. The lower shelf provides additional storage or display space while contributing to the table's sturdy construction.

What makes this piece particularly appealing are the wonderfully carved 18th century oak rails and decorative fragments incorporated into its design. These hand-carved elements display excellent detail and rich character, giving the table an attractive appearance that reflects the craftsmanship of an earlier period.

This is a substantial, well-made table that would make an excellent addition to a period home, country house, or antique furniture collection.
