Landers, Frary & Clark was an American manufacturing company based in New Britain Connecticut, specializing in housewares, cutlery, and household appliances from its incorporation in 1862 until its acquisition by the J.B. Williams Company in 1965. The company's origins trace back to 1842, when George M. Landers and Josiah Dewey founded Dewey & Landers to produce metal hardware such as cupboard latches and furniture casters. In 1852, it reorganized as Landers and Smith Manufacturing Company with Levi O. Smith as a partner, and by 1862, it merged with Frary, Carey & Company to become Landers, Frary & Clark, expanding into a broader range of metal products. Early production focused on practical household items like food scales, coffee grinders, cake mixers, and bread makers, which evolved in the late 19th century to include cutlery and silver plated flatware under the Aetna Works established in 1866.
