Antique souvenir small cup and saucer set. This set was made for Sherman & Keech of Danielson, Connecticut. The front of both the cup and saucer has a detailed, early image of ‘Main Street, Danielson, Connecticut’. The design is black and white, completed by gold accents.
Sherman and Keech operated a dry goods store in Danielson, Connecticut. The business was located in the same building where Endicott Johnson Shoes was later situated. The town itself was known as Danielsonville until 1895, when the name of the borough was shortened to Danielson.
Good to good-plus condition. Two flake chips on the base of the saucer (round rim). No other chips and no cracks. No scuffing on the saucer front. The inside of the cup is clean. The black design on both the saucer and cup is overwhelmingly intact, minus some lettering on the cup (see images). The gold on both pieces is surprisingly sharp. Some light base wear on the saucer. The cup is 2’’ high by 2’’ across the rim and the saucer is 4 1/2’’ wide.
