Elegant vintage Italian porcelain beer stein or decorative tankard with a fitted porcelain lid and ornate metal hinge.
The tankard is richly decorated with raised cobalt-blue floral, foliate and scroll motifs against a heavily gilded background. Fine hand-painted gold details, blue lines and sculptural relief decoration give the piece an opulent Baroque and Renaissance Revival appearance.
The porcelain lid has a stepped design with gold decoration and a blue floral finial. It is attached to the handle with decorative gilded metal fittings.
The underside bears the handwritten French inscription:
“Modèle et décoration exclusive à la main”
This translates approximately as:
“Exclusive model and decoration, executed by hand.”
The blue intertwined mark is in the Sèvres style. The item is not presented as an original antique Sèvres piece. It was most likely produced in Italy during the second half of the 20th century and is associated stylistically with high-quality Italian decorative porcelain.
Estimated period of production: circa 1960s–1980s.
The metal hinge shows some age-related oxidation and has slight play, but it remains functional. The lid is correctly aligned, sits properly and closes well.
