Harriet Hason

The arts have always been an important part of my life. I attended Pratt Institute in New York and received both undergraduate and graduate degrees in art. Some years later I received Administration Certification providing me with the qualification to peruse educational leadership on an administrative level.

In all I had a successful career in New York as a Visual Arts teacher and then Coordinator for the Arts for a New York school district. After working with and guiding students and teachers for over 30 years, I relocated to Tucson, and began my own creative journey.

When first moving to the Southwest, I focused on drawing and painting using a variety of drawing and painting media and tools. Then, I rediscovered ceramic clay and have been working with a variety of clay bodies to create figurative, decorative and utilitarian sculptural forms. Many of my pieces are decorated with a variety of glazes concentrating on the juxtaposition of patterns and designs.

In the last few years I’ve added animals to my sculptures and introduced some playful and imaginative themes.
