For sale is Vintage Antique Swedish Scissors

This is vintage & rare scissors made by C.W. Dahlgren in Eskilstuna Sweden ca 1900s-1910s The scissors are made steel with etched designs of cross, anchor, heart etc floral patterns in Toledo / Damascene style. Coms with case which has some wear. C.W. Dahlgren tools are known for its top notch steel. Carl Walfrid Dahlgren started working in his father's forge at the age of seven. He soon became a skilled blacksmith and after his father's death in 1870 was able to take over his business in his own name. The business was started on Grenberg's farm on Kriebsensgatan, but after a few years CW and his brother Gustav John Berg bought farm 168 where new factory premises were built. Dahlgren soon found a partner in G Soderen, a skilled instrument maker who contributed greatly to the production of scissors of proven quality before he left the company. His brother GJ Berg also manufactured sheath knives and daggers, a production that was incorporated into Dahlgren's company after his brother's death in 1878. A new factory was built on Rademachergatan in 1884, but the company had soon outgrown it. A new large factory complex at Bruksgatan 6 (plot no. 166) was therefore allowed to be put into use as early as 1889. Further new premises were added during the years 1906-1915 at Bruksgatan 10. In 1897 the company was converted into a limited liability company. In the autumn of 1914 the company went bankrupt. Changes in the company's export markets were a contributing factor to the difficulties. In 1915 the knife manufacturing was taken over by the former foreman Carl Gustav Blomqvist, who restarted as a knife manufacturer in premises at Sommarrogatan with the help of some staff and equipment from the old company. PRODUCTION: Among other things, scissors, various types of knives, hunting daggers, corkscrews, skates, scythes, coffee grinders, building ironwork as well as valves, ironwork and hatches for tiled stoves were manufactured.
