Vintage Polish Hand Carved Wooden Wall Plate — Folk Art Rosette
A hand carved wooden wall plate in the traditional Polish highlander style, featuring a radial floral rosette with chip-carved petals, punched dot detail, and a notched ribbed border. The two-tone finish — darker stained rim against a lighter recessed centre — is characteristic of the carved souvenir ware produced in the Podhale / Zakopane region of southern Poland and exported widely from the 1950s through the 1980s.
Intended for wall display, with a metal hanger fitted to the reverse.
A note on the mark: there is a faint green ink stamp to the reverse. It is worn and not fully legible, but appears to include Polish wording consistent with carved woodware of this type. I'm listing it on the evidence of the mark and the carving style — please form your own view from the photographs.
Diameter: 18 cm
Depth: 2.5 cm
Weight: 180 g
Timber: light, fine-grained — likely linden/lime, the traditional wood for this carving
