Description
This exceptional piece of contemporary studio art pottery showcases the celebrated wheel-thrown craftsmanship of Süleyman Saba, a prominent London-based master ceramicist and Selected Member of the Craft Potters Association who honed his skills at the Camberwell College of Arts and Stoke-on-Trent.
Beautifully shaped from white stoneware clay, the vessel features an elegant neckless ovoid profile that curves inward directly to a dark, contrasting rim. The body is dressed in a complex, rich rust-red glaze heavily variegated with dense dark crystalline iron speckles. Near the shoulder and collar, the chemistry shifts into a dramatic, high-fired metallic oil-spot pooling, beautifully illustrating Saba’s signature focus on the organic interplay between hand-thrown functional stoneware and volatile kiln reduction glazes.
