History of Jumbo Pens Stubby oversize novelty pens were a popular pre-WW2 import item in the United States from Japan -- so popular that they can still be found in plentiful supply and at modest cost. Most Jumbo pens are flat-top eyedropper-fillers, but one also will find lever-fillers, rounded ends (cigar-shaped), and combos. Some examples may be postwar, but the great majority are prewar. Jumbo pens are popular before World War 2 because of the benefits of writing with Jumbo pens. Writing on jumbo pens gives more stability and comfort to people with hand tremors and other medical issues. The Japanese developed a unique "fat body" design, which actually had a simple reason behind it. During that time, computers were not yet available, and people with arthritis found it easier to hold a larger and thicker writing instrument. These pens were primarily exported to the United States and Great Britain, although they were also occasionally found in Europe, albeit less commonly. In the third scenario, the majority of these pens were available in the eyedropper format, which had been featured in distributor catalogs since the 1930s. A jumbo pen with a thick barrel. overall the pen is in solid condition with a some wear and tear with small marks (See the picture below), it's totally functional The urushi coating has also matured now containing Patin. The fountain pen has gained some shallow scratch marks due to to use and its previous owner have taken good care of the pen with only the mature urushi being seen. Otherwise, the fountain pen is in good condition rather rare in this condition
