Antique Early 20th C. Boys Day Hanten Russo-Japanese war Handwoven silk kasuri. Militaria

Vintage Boys Hanten hand made from cut-down brown and off-white silk kasuri kimono. The silk is folded up to make the lower half of the lining, while a printed cotton fabric is used for the sleeve and upper body linings. All hand sewn. Padded for warmth.

The cotton fabric is printed with scenes from what I believe to be the 1904-05 Russo-Japanese war in Manchuria.  One of the images is of a huge Chinese-style stone “tower gate.”

The main image is of a rider on horse-back with a saber and black riding boots, sheepskin coat and hat. Also the Japanese battle flag.

28” long from collar to hem, 40” cuff to cuff

Very fine condition, no holes or damage that I can find.

You may wish to have it dry-cleaned by dry cleaners accustomed to working with fine/vintage fabrics. , I wouldn’t wash it.

All items are in pristine condition unless otherwise specified, and stored away from light in a climate-controlled and smoke-free environment.
