Antique J.D. Kestner Mold 257 Character Baby Doll.  Manufactured in Germany circa 1912–1916, Mold 257 is recognized for its expressive baby face, large glass sleep eyes, and quality bisque craftsmanship from the golden age of German doll production.

This doll features a bisque  head on a composition body with blue glass paperweight sleep eyes, an open mouth with molded tongue, blonde human hair wig, and jointed composition body. The back of the head is marked JDK 257 Germany.

Condition

Preowned antique condition.

The sable eyelashes have some missing lashes. The glass sleep eyes open and close freely. It appears the hair plate/wig has been glued to the top of the head by a previous owner. The composition body is in good antique condition with no peeling or lifting noted. General age-related surface wear, soiling, and discoloration are present consistent with age. Fingers have red lines drawn on them The clothing is not original to the doll. Neither the doll nor the clothing has been cleaned. Clothing will be placed in a  bag, put on the doll when shipping. Doll not mint, needs cleaned
