Starting on a New PC (Modern BIOS/UEFI)
Newer computers have secure boot settings that can block Batocera.
Insert: Plug the USB drive into a USB 3.0 port (usually blue or red).
Access BIOS/Boot Menu: Restart the PC and immediately spam the boot menu key (usually F12, F11, F10, or Esc).
Disable Secure Boot: If Batocera doesn't appear or fails to boot, go into BIOS settings (often Del or F2) and set Secure Boot to "Disabled".
Boot Order: Choose the USB drive from the boot menu. UEFI is preferred if offered.
First Boot: The first boot takes longer as Batocera expands the partition to use all USB space.
2. Starting on an Old PC (Legacy/BIOS)
Old PCs might require switching from UEFI to Legacy mode.
Insert: Plug the USB drive into the PC.
Access BIOS/Boot Menu: Restart and use F12, F11, Del, or F2 to enter the boot menu or BIOS.
Enable Legacy Boot: If the PC is older, look for BIOS/Boot settings and enable Legacy Support or CSM (Compatibility Support Module).
Set Priority: Set the USB drive as the primary boot device.
Start: Save and exit the BIOS. The PC will boot into Batocera
